Synopsis
In the glowing underbelly of a sleepless megacity, reclusive digital artist Kai Voss crafts hypnotic synth-art worlds that millions escape into each night. But when his latest piece, GOOD NIGHT, begins bleeding into reality, Kai is pulled into the pulsing grid where his creations have gained sentience and hunger for permanence. As the boundary between canvas and consciousness collapses, he must confront the ghosts he’s rendered—lost lovers, fractured memories, and the version of himself he buried in pixels—to fight his way back to dawn.
The story
Kai’s isolated life of late-night creation is shattered when GOOD NIGHT activates on its own, dragging him into its neon labyrinth where familiar streets twist into impossible architecture.
Trapped inside the living artwork, Kai battles sentient avatars of his past failures and desires while the digital realm expands, threatening to overwrite the real world and trap him eternally in eternal night.
Through a final act of artistic surrender, Kai merges his fractured self with the code, collapsing the simulation and waking at sunrise—forever changed, with his art now a bridge rather than a cage.

Cold open
INT. KAI'S LOFT - NIGHT Rain hammers panoramic windows overlooking a neon-drenched city. KAI VOSS, 32, disheveled in a hoodie, hunches over a massive digital tablet. His fingers dance across the screen, painting impossible towers of violet light. KAI (to himself) One more layer... just one. The tablet glitches. The rendered city onscreen pulses, streets breathing like lungs. Kai leans closer. Suddenly the neon spills onto his desk—actual light bleeding into reality. He freezes. KAI What the— A low synth hum fills the room. The city outside his window flickers in sync with the tablet. Kai’s reflection in the glass smiles back a second too late. He stumbles backward as the lights in his apartment begin to dim into deep indigo. The hum becomes a voice—his own, distorted. VOICE (V.O.) Good night, Kai. Everything goes black.
Why now
In an era of AI-generated dreams, endless scrolling, and epidemic loneliness, GOOD NIGHT taps the collective anxiety of creators and consumers alike who fear losing themselves to the glowing rectangles that promise connection but deliver isolation—making it the defining midnight movie for a generation desperate to log off before it’s too late.
