A suburban family's zoo outing erupts into supernatural chaos when a towering giraffe fixates on their daughter with predatory intelligence and impossible speed.
Synopsis
The Millers plan a perfect Saturday at the city zoo to reconnect after months of work stress and tablet addiction. Their six-year-old daughter Ellie bonds instantly with a lone giraffe that seems to watch only her, bending its long neck through the barrier in playful greeting. By noon the creature has escaped its enclosure and the day devolves into a frantic chase across themed pavilions while the giraffe demonstrates eerie knowledge of their secrets and movements. Security dismisses the threat as a prank until the animal corners the family inside the nocturnal house, revealing glowing eyes and a distorted human-like cry. Flashbacks expose the giraffe was once part of an illegal roadside attraction where it witnessed the parents' buried guilt over a past car accident. The Millers must confront their lies while dodging the creature's relentless, almost protective pursuit. In the final showdown atop the giraffe exhibit, Ellie reaches the animal first and calms it with the truth, forcing her parents to admit their role in its trauma. The giraffe returns to its pen voluntarily as dawn breaks, leaving the family forever changed and closer than before.

INT. CITY ZOO ENTRANCE - DAY Golden sunlight spills over cartoonish animal topiaries. The MILLER FAMILY steps through turnstiles: MARK, 38, phone already in hand; SARAH, 36, clutching a map; and six-year-old ELLIE skipping ahead in a bright yellow dress. ELLIE Daddy, can we see the giraffes first? Please? MARK (without looking up) Sure, kiddo. Just let me finish this email. SARAH Mark. Phone away. We're here. They pass under a giant balloon arch. Ellie tugs Sarah toward the giraffe enclosure where a single towering animal stands alone, neck curved gracefully over the railing as if waiting. Its dark eyes fix on Ellie. She waves. The giraffe lowers its head in an almost human nod. Wind chimes somewhere play an off-key lullaby.
Why now
Families starved for real-world connection after years of lockdowns and screens are flocking to zoos again, yet this film weaponizes that wholesome impulse into a darkly funny parable about the secrets we carry even on our happiest days.
