Synopsis

Okappiki Neko Hachi prowls the neon alleys of 1960s Tokyo, a bow-legged calico with a badge and an endless stomach. Before he can snare the eel-powered crime boss whose generators are terrorizing the markets, Hachi insists on the perfect unagi bowl at a tiny riverside stand. One bite sparks a chain of chases, double-crosses, and quiet moments of whisker-to-hand camaraderie that redefine what justice tastes like. His human partner, a weary beat cop, learns to trust the cat’s instincts while the city flickers back to life around them. Food stalls become battlegrounds, rooftops become confessionals, and every steaming plate reminds them that even heroes need fuel before the final takedown. By dawn the eel boss is cuffed, the lights hum again, and Hachi curls atop his partner’s desk, full and content, proving that in this city the smallest rituals keep the chaos at bay.

INT. RIVERSIDE UNAGI STAND — NIGHT
Rain taps the tin roof. Steam rises from charcoal grills. NEKO HACHI, a stocky calico in a tiny police happi coat, perches on a stool, tiny paws gripping chopsticks. He methodically lifts glistening slices of eel to his mouth.
HACHI
(muffled)
One more skewer. The boss can wait.
His human partner, DETECTIVE SATO, paces behind him, trench coat soaked.
SATO
Hachi, the generators are failing across three wards!
HACHI
(chewing)
Exactly why the unagi must be perfect. Electricity and flavor both require patience.
A distant explosion rattles the lanterns. Hachi licks his whiskers, drops coins, and finally stands, belly round and satisfied.
HACHI
Now we go to work.
